These terms describe what you can expect from Gratitude Lock and what we expect from you. They are written to be read, not skimmed by a lawyer.
By installing or using Gratitude Lock, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
Gratitude Lock is intended for individuals 13 years of age and older. The app is not directed at children under 13. During onboarding you confirm your date of birth; users under 13 cannot complete onboarding.
Users between 13 and 15 are flagged as minors per the EU GDPR-K standard. We use this flag to apply Google AdMob TFUA + TFCD settings so only contextual, non-personalised ads are served. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You can use Gratitude Lock anonymously (no email) or sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Anonymous users cannot recover their data on a new device because there is no identity to look up. Signing in enables cross-device sync.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. We do not store passwords; authentication is delegated to Apple, Google, and Supabase Auth.
Use Gratitude Lock for personal, non-commercial reflection. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer the app, the encryption layer, or the API. Do not use the app to harass, defraud, or harm others.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We try to give a reason and a chance to appeal where possible.
Free tier: ad-supported. No paid commitment.
Paid tiers (Journal-Only, Full Lock, Premium): all paid tiers include a 7-day free trial. After the trial, you are charged the listed price unless you cancel before the trial ends. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled.
Cancellation: cancel at any time in App Store / Play Store subscription settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the current period. We cannot cancel on your behalf.
Refunds: handled by Apple and Google according to their refund policies. Contact them directly for refund requests.
Gratitude entries you write belong to you. We have no copyright or use rights over them. Because of our server-blind encryption design, we cannot read them anyway.
AI reflections we generate (Premium) are licensed to you for personal use; we do not retain or train on the input or output (Anthropic Zero-Retention agreement, see Privacy Policy).
Gratitude Lock is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Where applicable law does not allow this exclusion, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Specifically: we are not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or crisis intervention. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
We may update these terms. Material changes are notified in-app and via email (where we have one). Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you a different right that applies.
